A summit on the future of archiving

Previously, Director of AGS Records Management Seychelles subsidiary, Peter Lalande, had held talks with senior Seychelles government officials and met with the Vice-President to discuss document management in detail. The discussions focused on the services and solutions offered by AGS Records Management Seychelles for the preservation of archives.

A visit rich in exchanges and discoveries

During the visit, Mr Afif explored the repository and posed many questions, particularly about the systems we deploy to manage high volumes of files, the history of the company and the types of customers we support on the islands.

In the scanning room he was introduced to the document digitisation process. He also explored our archive management software, which was presented as a potential solution for the government’s needs. This prompted a phone call to the Seychelles Government IT director to investigate changing systems.

Concrete actions to develop our Seychelles subsidiary

The need for land on which the AGS Records Management can build a larger records conservation facility was another point of discussion. Obligingly, the Vice-President immediately contacted the Minister of Land Affairs to move this issue forward.

Strengthening links with government institutions

Initially scheduled to last 15 minutes, the visit lasted more than 30 minutes, illustrating the Vice-President’s keen interest in the crucial role played by AGS Records Management in the conservation of the Seychelles’ archives.

The visit is evidence of the growing importance of records management and document digitisation in the island archipelago, and strengthens the partnership between AGS Records Management and the Seychelles government.
